What is Tumbling?

Tumbling is a finishing process that is used to clean, deburr, and slightly smooth smaller parts. Tumbling uses a horizontal drum where parts are placed, along with a media, such as sand or ceramic chips. The drum rotates slowly, Tumbling itself offers zero corrosion resistance. It is often used as pre‑treatment step before anodizing, plating or passivation. Common output surface ranges from soft matte to semi‑bright finish, widely used for fasteners, hardware, small mechanical components.
